Bryna Milligan grew up in Albuquerque and began studying at UNM in fall of 2012. She is a senior majoring in History and joined the Medieval Studies program in January 2013. She is currently focusing on early medieval northern Europe, and is drafting an honors thesis regarding food customs of the region. Her paper for this colloquium will explore the use of ethnocentric rhetoric in Old English literature, with particular attention to hos its uses changed throughout the Anglo-Saxon period, as well as the effects of foreign invasions, such as the Vikings and the Normans.
