About the MSSA

The MSSA is the medieval literature and history research group for students at the University of New Mexico.  We are closely connected with the Institute for Medieval Studies and the English and History departments, specifically the Medieval Studies faculty.  As a group, we host events that are of interest to the medieval studies community at UNM and provide support to the Institute for Medieval Studies for their events.

We are an active organization that encourages scholarship in medieval history and literature and therefore many of our members are undergraduates with majors in English or History or the Medieval Studies minor, or are graduate students in English or History with a medieval concentration.  As part of this mission, we sponsor a student colloquium each semester to provide students the opportunity to share their work in a supportive and professional environment.

We're not all work, though; each semester we gather for events like Movie (K)nights and we are known to celebrate successful conferences and other victories as only Medieval Studies students can.  You can ask anyone: no one knows how to have a good time like a Medievalist.

2014-15 Officers

The officers of the MSSA work hard to serve the community of students interested in learning more about the Middle Ages.  If you have any ideas or would like to speak to the officers for any reason, please e-mail us with your ideas at mssa@unm.edu and we'll be happy to set up a meeting.
